Own a Piece of History Burnt Timber From Southend Pier
Own a piece of history

Southend-on-Sea pier is known as the longest pleasure pier in the world, and is a great historic landmark. It is has been chiefly responsible for Southend’s fame and popularity as a great British tourist resort for many years.

Often referred to on popular TV shows such as Eastenders the Southend Pier which is over a mile in length easily outshone the famous piers at Brighton and Blackpool, as a landmark of British heritage.

Over the years the pier has suffered a lifetime plagued with accidents and disasters including shipping collision and previous fires. This latest fire on Sunday 9th October happened over a mile out at sea, which completely destroyed the world famous
"End of the Pier" and now seems to threaten its entire future.

I have grown up in this seaside town and remember the fire of 1976, which also devastated the end of the pier. As I only live a few miles away from the seafront, I wondered along the beach to see what the pier looks like now. It really is a sad site once again.

Lying there on the beach was pieces of burnt timber from the pier that had washed up upon he shore. I thought how sad it was that they were just laying there, but also that these pieces of wood really are pieces of history.

Then I thought someone might be interested in owning this piece of history, and I could sell it on eBay for charity.

This rather large piece measures 44 inches long and even has some sand,
on it from the beach. The main picture was taken on the sea wall with the pier in the background just up from where I found it.

Don’t miss this opportunity to own a very large genuine piece of this historic landmark known as the longest pleasure pier in the world.

This large piece salvaged from the wreckage could easily take pride of place among a collection of other famous collector’s items such as pieces of the Berlin wall.

It would also look great as a feature in the garden.

Also I will include a copy of the local Southend newspaper.
Dated Monday 10th October which has the full story
and again will be a collectors item.

The chosen charity is the RNLI who do sterling work, and are having to make special arrangements to manage their work load, during this sad situation.

Bid now before its too late to win your very own Piece of History in our ebay shop

Please put this in your watched items to see what happens
and maybe we can get Southend on eBay Pulse!!!!

PLEASE READ:
I am a serious eBayer and a Southender, who has seized this opportunity to raise awareness as well as raise money for the RNLI. I also understand from local media that many people have lost their business because of this disaster and I hope that they will be given help, and the opportunity to rebuild their business back up at the "End of the Pier"

The highest bidder will win this large piece of wood, the Local Newspaper, and a copy of the receipt for the donation.

The donation will be the winning amount minus eBay’s final Valuation fee.

Once payment has been received, I will send the donation and obtain an official receipt from the RNLI

About inventing the Drill-Mate

Hi, my name is Peter Noble and I am a time served (apprenticeship) engineer. Educated to degree standard in computing, electronics and telecommunications I have always had an interest in inventing.

For about 10 years I have had a business installing computers for travel agencies. Most companies I visited had just had a shop refit. I was asked to work clean. Not easy when expected to drill walls.

Plaster dust and debris from breeze block can be difficult to remove once spilled onto a new carpet to say nothing of the effect red brick dust has on a beige carpet. I tried envelopes and sticky tape.

There must be a better way. The first Drill-Mate was constructed from a Childs anti-spill paint pot with a piece of pipe for a handle with a polythene bag over it to catch the dust. it worked really well.

I contacted the Innovations Catalogue Company who in those days had inventors days to show ideas. They liked it and put me in touch with a mouldings agent in the plastic garden products industry.

An injection moulding tool was manufactured. Drill-mates could now be mass produced to a new design which allowed a vacuum to be used connected to the handle. They're made in Yorkshire.

They are sold through trade outlets for electronics engineers. They have been adopted as a health and safety product by the asbestos removal industry. They are available in a few retailers.

"PROFESSIONAL ELECTRICIAN product of the year (drilling) winner. "
